Guard desks, visitor passes and lifts that only stop at your floor: here is how a home massage works in a Bangkok condo, serviced apartment or Airbnb.
Yes, you can book a massage at your condo or Airbnb in Bangkok. Most condos have a guard desk and key-card lifts, so the easiest way is to meet your therapist in the lobby when she messages you that she has arrived. Send your building name, tower, unit number and a map pin when you book an outcall massage, and keep a clean towel ready.
Before you book a massage at home in a Bangkok condo, it helps to know how the building works. Most condos here are built around security. There is usually a guard desk at the entrance or in the lobby, often staffed around the clock, and the lifts only move with a resident key card. In many buildings your card only opens your own floor.
This means your therapist cannot simply walk up to your door. In many buildings the guard asks every visitor who they are visiting, and may ask them to write their name in a visitor book or leave an ID card at the desk in exchange for a visitor pass. This is normal in Bangkok and applies to everyone, from friends to delivery riders.
The guard may also call your unit to check that you are expecting someone. Answering that call, or simply coming down to the lobby, keeps everything quick and friendly.
Bangkok has many condos with similar names, and some developments have several towers around one entrance. The more precise you are, the faster your therapist finds you.
You book in English, on WhatsApp or LINE. Your therapist is usually at your door in about 30 minutes in condo areas such as Sukhumvit, Thonglor and Silom.
With key-card lifts, the simplest plan is to meet your therapist downstairs. She sends you a message on WhatsApp or LINE when she reaches your building. Take your key card, go down to the lobby, say hello and ride up together.
It takes two minutes and saves a lot of back and forth at the guard desk. It also means she does not wait outside in the heat or the rain while the guard tries to reach you.
An Airbnb in Bangkok is usually a private unit inside a normal condo building, so the same guard desk and key-card rules apply. Your host may also have house rules about visitors. Read them before you book, and if anything is unclear, send your host a short message.
