Check Therapists
Go to a shop, or have a therapist come to your room? Here is what each option means, what it costs and when it makes sense.
Incall means you go to the massage; outcall means the massage comes to you. In Bangkok, incall massage happens in a shop or spa, while outcall massage brings a therapist to your hotel, condo or Airbnb. Incall is cheaper for a quick foot massage on the street. Outcall wins late at night, after a long flight, for couples and whenever you want privacy without crossing the city.
You will see these two words on almost every massage website in Bangkok. They do not describe a type of massage. They simply tell you where the massage takes place.
Incall massage means you travel to the massage. You walk into a shop, a spa or a hotel spa, lie on their mat or table, and leave when you are done. Most of the massage shops you pass on the street in Sukhumvit or Silom work this way.
Outcall massage means the therapist travels to you. You book by message, she comes to your hotel room, condo, serviced apartment or Airbnb with her oils and fresh sheets, and you stay where you are. The massages are the same (Traditional Thai, oil, deep tissue, aromatherapy), only the place changes.
Neither option is better in every case. The right choice depends on the time of day, your budget, how tired you are and who you are travelling with.
Here is how the two compare for a typical traveller staying in central Bangkok.
| Incall (shop or spa) | Outcall (your room) | |
|---|---|---|
| Where | Their shop, spa or hotel spa | Your hotel, condo, serviced apartment or Airbnb |
| Getting there | You walk or take a taxi, then travel back | Nothing to do: she comes to your door |
| Price for one hour | Roughly 300–500 THB in a street shop, 600–1,500 THB in a mid-range spa | More than a street shop, as travel is part of the service. Paya: from 900 THB |
| Opening hours | Most shops close in the evening | Depends on the service. Paya: 24/7, every day |
| Privacy | Often a curtain or a shared room | A private room, just you (or the two of you) |
| Your therapist | Usually whoever is free | Paya: you choose from real photos |
| After the massage | Back out into the heat and traffic | Shower, sleep or order room service |
| Payment | At the counter | Paya: cash after the massage, no deposit |
In short: incall wins on price for a short, simple massage. Outcall wins on comfort, privacy and time.
We are an outcall service, but we will be honest: a shop is often the smarter choice in these cases.
If you choose a shop, look for clear prices by duration, clean towels and a calm atmosphere. A good shop tells you the price before you lie down, not after.
Most shops close in the evening. A 24-hour massage service comes to you at midnight or at 4 am, when the city is finally quiet.
You land, check in, and the last thing you want is a taxi back into traffic. The massage comes to you, and you can sleep straight after.
No shared room, no curtain, no walk home with oil on your skin. Just you, your room and your therapist.
Outcall also makes sense when:
Booking an outcall massage in Bangkok takes a few messages. You choose your therapist from real photos, then send us your hotel or condo, your room number and the time you want, in English, on WhatsApp or LINE. She is usually at your door in about 30 minutes.
Some hotels ask visitors to register at reception. This is normal and only takes a minute. Our guide to in-room massage in Bangkok hotels explains what reception may ask. In a condo with key-card lifts, you may need to meet your therapist in the lobby and ride up together.
Your therapist brings massage oils and fresh sheets, and the massage is usually done on your bed. To get ready, you only need a few things:
Many guests book a hotel massage in their room the way they would order room service: no planning, no taxi, no queue.
Incall is cheaper on paper, and for a short massage it really is. As a rough guide in Bangkok:
Outcall costs more than a street shop because your therapist spends time crossing the city to reach you, often late at night. To compare fairly, add the taxi there and back, and the time you spend travelling, to the price of the shop or spa.
At Paya Massage, prices start from 900 THB. Transport is included in central areas, and a small transport fee may apply further out. You pay in cash after your massage, with no deposit and no booking fee. The full menu is on our massage prices page.
Booking someone to come to your room means trusting a service you found online. A few simple checks protect you.
At Paya Massage you choose your therapist from real photos on our homepage, our prices are on the site, and you pay in cash after your massage. For the common tricks to avoid, read our guide to massage scams in Bangkok.

Incall means you visit the massage shop or spa. Outcall means the therapist travels to your room. The massages are the same; only the place changes.
Usually yes, compared with a street shop, because the therapist travels to you. A street shop charges roughly 300 to 500 THB for one hour of Thai massage, and a hotel spa usually 2,500 THB and up. Paya Massage starts from 900 THB, paid in cash after.
